Policies & Procedures

Any areas not covered in the rules shall be left up to the discretion of the management. Management reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone.

Upon entering, at the pit gate, all cars are checked for safety rules
only.

Following the race, as quickly as possible the top eleven cars are brought to the front straightaway. The top ten are checked for rule violations.

Any car found not adhering to all rules will, at that time, be disqualified and will not be paid. The eleventh place car would then move up one position.

Each person is responsible for reading and following the rules. Please, if you don’t plan to comply, don’t come! We are not babysitters; we won’t come to you before the race and tell you that something is illegal on your car. You will simply be disqualified after the race and will not be paid.

No official results will be available and no positions will be paid
until after inspection of all cars is completed.

Car Rules

1. Street cars only. No trucks allowed. (El Camino o.k.)

2. Seat belts required and shoulder harness required (factory stock okay)

3. All glass (including mirrors) must be removed. All trim, chrome, etc. including taillights will be removed. Mesh should be securely mounted in the windshield. If glass is found upon inspection your entry fee will be forfeited.

4. Roll bar not required, but up to a four-point cage allowed.

5. Stock seat allowed.

6. No altering of suspension. Cars may be asked to run either direction on the track.

7. Only stock steel wheels-maximum seven inch width. Only tires designed for street use may be used. Tires no wider than eight inches allowed. Cutting of wheel wells up to ten inches above center of axle okay. If rust extends further than one inch or if part of the wheel well is missing, replace it.

8. One passenger will be allowed. This passenger must be in the front seat and must have a handle bar to hang on to. The passenger must hang on to the handle bar at all times. If passenger is not hanging on to the handle bar car will be disqualified.

9. Driver’s door must be welded. Three welds at least 3” long apart. All other doors, trunk lid, and hood will be chained. ALL HOOD LATCHES MUST BE DISABLED. Holes in hood and truck maybe cut to run chains through. No others. Stock bumpers for make and model of car only must be chained.

10. No profane language painted on car.

11. Gas tanks located above or in front of rear end do not have to be relocated. All others must be moved into the trunk area Marine tanks, whether plastic or metal, may be used. Auxiliary gas tanks used in station wagons must be located in back of car and covered. All gas tanks (including those left in their original position) must be securely mounted using two steel straps or chains-one inch width minimum No gas spouts may extend past the body of the car.

12. Battery may be moved but must be in enclosed battery box and securely mounted.

13. One radiator per car and it must remain in original position.

14. No reinforcing, cutting apart, welding or modification of anything on the vehicle is allowed except as specified above.

15. No radio communication allowed. It is unfair to other contestants and interferes with the Official’s communications.

16. The event is designed for streetcars only. No high-performance parts that did not come stock on vehicle are allowed. All suspensions, engines and drive trains must be stock appearing.

17. All drivers must be sixteen years of age or older. Drivers under eighteen years old must provide notarized parental permission to accompany the application.

18. Only pre-entered cars will be guaranteed a starting position. It is to your advantage to get your entry form and fee in early.

19. Cars will be parked in the starting position immediately after being signed in. Therefore, be sure your car is race ready before you bring it to the track.

20. The race will consist of only one event. It will last until 100 laps have been run.

21. Each car must provide one person to supervise lap counting. This person must check in with your car at the pit gate and must stay in his or her assigned position throughout the entire race. This person will have the responsibility of watching only your assigned car as it passes the flag stand on every lap. Therefore, do not assign someone to do this job that will want to watch the rest of the racing action. Please choose your lap counter ahead of time and have them read the lap counting instructions attached to these rules. They don’t need paper but should have some idea of what they will be expected to do. Also, be sure that they get there on time. If they are late, we will not be responsible and it is your lap counting that will be messed up.

22. All cars left on the track or in the pit become the property of
Iron Range Racing Association (I.R.R.A) to be disposed of as
the l.R.R.A. sees fit.
